Jacob’s Tent is a community of people who are merely attempting to live life and wrestle with our ideas, experiences, misconceptions and understandings of who God is and what it really means to follow Jesus. The very name itself if derived from an old story taken from the ancient Jewish text called the Pentateuch. In this story, Jacob wrestled with an unknown assailant believed to be God or an angel of God and through his perseverance, was not only blessed, was physically changed forever!
It is under the auspices of that that wrestling match where we learn who we are as human beings, who God is and what Jesus has called us to do. When we interpret our experiences through the lenses of love, community and scripture, we take the dialogue of life to the next level.
Because life is meant to be lived, that is exactly what we do. We live life where we are at regardless of where we are at on that journey. We are more concerned with how we can serve and love one another than we are trying to prove who is completely right and who is completely wrong. Where we meet and how we worship are fluid and open to life’s surprises.
Regardless of your faith background, you are welcome to join the conversation. There is plenty of room a common table for all of us. This journey is one you are going to travel anyway; let’s travel it together and see if we can teach other something along the way.
I must warn you, we don’t have it all figured out and we do not have all the answers. If you can accept that of us, we’d love to meet you. Even if you can’t accept that of us, we’d love to meet you anyway.
